We talked about gluten-free quinoa pasta prices before, and have an interesting update. The product we’re talking about is the Ancient Harvest Quinoa Elbow Noodles.

An 8 ounce box of quinoa pasta elbows at New Seasons currently costs $2.78 (or $0.349/oz.) You can buy it in bulk at New Seasons for $0.26/oz (which is equivalent to $2.08/box.)

Save money, save packaging, and eat delicious gluten-free pasta! Did we mention that we really love this pasta? It’s more delicious and cooks up better than rice pasta, which is easy to overcook.

P.S. Avoid even more extra packaging by bringing your own bulk containers to New Seasons. When you first arrive, just take your empty containers to one of the cash registers and they will weigh them for you and write the weight on the container.

This isn’t exactly the most shocking news, but by accident today we ended up pricing quinoa pasta at three different stores. Since prices end up playing a factor in Gluten-Free food, we thought the results were interesting enough for a short blurb. These prices all came from Portland Oregon stores. Here they are:

My friend Noah turned me on to this great deal at Restaurant.com. With the code CELEBRATE you can get $25 gift certificates to area restaurants for $2 (usually they’re $10.) The catch is that you have to spend a certain minimum at the restaurant to use the certificate. I’m mentioning this here because Portland gluten-free-friendly restaurants Francis, Grolla, Oba!, and Wild Abandon are participating.

The details differ from restaurant to restaurant, so be sure to read the fine print, but here’s an example: The minimum tab you can use the $25 certificate for at Grolla is $35. So, you buy the gift certificate with the special code for $2, and let’s say you spend $40. Then you use your gift certificate and you get $40 worth of food for $17. (That’s $40-$25=$15 plus what you paid for the certificate: $2.)

Yes it gives me a headache too. But you can save a bunch of money! Get your pocket calculator out before you go to their site. The offer expires at the end of the year. Here, below is the email blurb:
