We love the Hawthorne Fish House, mostly the chili-fried fish and chips -- the clam chowder is amazing, one of the treats I miss most being GF. The fish tacos are flavorful and authentic. Avoid family hour (our kids are grown) and you can have a leisurely (air-conditioned) dinner at a casual, not-too-spendy fish house. I haven't tried any of the healthier/non-fried fare...I can do that myself. And they make a rockin' margarita.
Overall, it's good to have a place where you can eat with confidence.

we love the chili fried catfish (really, anything they're willing to chili fry is good!). we convinced them to chili fry oysters for us a couple of times, and they are amazing that way!

too bad we live on the east coast now, even slightly non-greasy fish and chips is better than none!

It's all about the classic fish tacos there. REALLY good stuff. I always get the sweet potato fries too=) I have celiac disease and rarely feel comfortable eating out, but am confident that the Corbett and Hawthorne fish houses can truly accomodate a gluten free experience.

We'll have to try that sometime. I don't usually get salmon at restaurants for some reason, but a salmon sandwich sounds good.

I don't really like the fried fish here, instead I order a salmon burger with cheese on a GF bun and sweet potato fries. One of my favorite GF meals in Portland
